Project: No.. Not Soft Serve Ice Cream

April 23, 2009

It was my friends birthday, so I decided to make her something.  She loves cute stuff and sweets so here’s what I came up with:

Call it whatever you want, but it’s green tea frozen yogurt with mochi!  They aren’t sprinkles.  Does it look realistic??

Anyway, I’m trying to come up with a different cutsy face for these little figurines I make.  Oh, if you take this off the keychain, you can also wear it as a pendant!  (but I personally think it’s a little tacky at age 23 to wear that kinda stuff) It’s about a little over an inch tall.

I also made a giant mint ice cream cupcake for her.  The mini cupcake on the side is for comparison.  (the mini is not a regular size cupcake btw)

Hope you like =)

If you have any requests, please write them in the request page. =)  Thanks for tuning in!

Foodings: It’s Not Whipped Cream…

April 22, 2009

So for my birthday I held a potluck at my house and my good friend introduced to me something SO wonderful!  A lot of people who weren’t told how to eat this giggled because they thought my friend bought the wrong cream.  Anyway, she brought strawberries, sour cream (yes sour cream), and brown sugar. You dip the strawberry in the sour cream, then coat that with the brown sugar, and voila!

I bit into the jewel and AHHH it was so delicious.  It reminded me so much of a strawberry cheesecake.  Such a simple dessert, and so divine!  The crunch of the brown sugar and the juiciness of the strawberry were a great combination for me.

You might not all like this, but I do!

Product of the Day: Goo Gone.

April 22, 2009

I thought I checked all the pockets for any items, so I threw everything in the washing machine. I loaded them into the drier after the wash, and when I pulled them out, something fell to the floor. It was a tube of Vaseline lip balm. (petroleum jelly) I thought.. “oh god.” I picked it up and it was completely empty. I poured the laundry on the bed and slowly went through each piece of clothing to find that I stained practically the whole load. I felt so BAD because this was not my clothing.

The first thing I thought was to wash it again in hot water thinking it would “melt” the oils off the clothes. When I dried it again, the stains were STILL there. :( (this was Sunday evening)

I desperately searched the internet for answers of how to get rid of petroleum jelly stains. The first thing I did was scrub all the stain spots with isopropyl alcohol. I was practically getting high off that shit. No just kidding, but it’s really drying on the skin and I already have dry skin. I popped it in the washing machine, dried, and the stains were still there!

The next thing I thought of was dishwasher soap because that stuff cuts the grease and regular detergent doesn’t. I dabbed every stain spot with the soap and scrubbed it with a toothbrush. Repeated the process of washing and drying it but the stains were sTILLL there.

I proceeded to dab again, let it sit, soak in hot water and soap, and threw it in the washer. This time I added a little dishwashing soap in the machine. Again, it didn’t work.

Washed it again with extra hot water this time. I didn’t have fabric softener at the time so the fabric was starting to get stiff. I’m about to give up. Then my friend told me about  “Goo Gone” and offered to lend it to me.

(removes sticky gummy, greasy, gooey problems)

I dabbed the stains with the product and let it sit for a bit. Blotted it with a towel. This stuff smells like gasoline, by the way. I threw them in the machine for like what..the 7th time? I dry them. I FREAKED when I took them out because it looked like the stains had either spread or the “petroleum distillate” in the Goo Gone made more stains.

I soaked them in hot water and a mixture of dishwasher soap and detergent, and scrubbed the spots with my hands. This is where one of my fingers started to blister from all the rubbing. The skin on my hands started feeling slippery.  Yea, I should’ve worn gloves.  Silly me.

I threw them in the washing machine and this time there was a little progress. A couple of the shirts’ stains disappeared. The rest still had a few stains.

So I scrubbed and soaked the clothes one more time with extra soap and detergent. My blister stung like a bitch.

After numerous washes (Tuesday), I’d say about 7-8 washes, blistering fingers, and corroding skin, I FINALLYYYY get out the petroleum jelly stains I made from mistakenly leaving a tube of Vaseline in the pocket. I’m SO RELIEVED!!!  Here they are!  Good as new (sorta..):

I’m not trying to advertise this product but GOO GONE works.  Might take ~3 washes to get it out though.  The smell will go away eventually.  It gets off that sticky residue left behind from stickers and labels, grease in grills, carpet stains, tar, glue, gum…you name it.  Check it out!

So yea, that was my last two and a half days.
